Cross-in-Hand Tennis Club Ladies Doubles pair triumph in international tournament

Cross-in-Hand Tennis Club ladies doubles pair Anne Oliver and Susan Groves were triumphant at the recent Seniors’ ITF (International Tennis Federation) Tournament held at Tunbridge Wells Lawn Tennis Club. Anne and Susan won the over 55 age group.

Susan said: “Anne and I thoroughly enjoyed the competition and were thrilled with our achievement, particularly as Cross-in-Hand Tennis Club is such a small club.”

TWLTC (Tunbridge Wells Lawn Tennis Club) hosts an ITF (International Tennis Federation) Seniors’ Tournament each Summer. The ITF World Tennis Masters Tour consists of over 500 tournaments in over 70 nations. The tournaments are for amateur tennis players aged 30 and over to enjoy the many benefits of competing in age group competition.  The Tour mission is to make Masters tennis the largest sport in terms of player participation for all aged 30 and over. Over 30,000 players currently take part in the Tour. 

Cross-in-Hand Tennis Club offers five clay courts, allowing tennis to be played all year-round with LED floodlights.  Activities include social club sessions, singles and doubles ladders and an annual club tournament. There are also several  men’s, ladies’, mixed and junior teams which compete against other clubs across Sussex and Kent.  

Players range from  beginners to county standard, with sessions available to suit any standard, including coaching.
