Off the Line Vineyard fly the flag for wine exports
13th April
First time exporting to Norway
Off The Line Vineyard based at North Street, Hellingly BN27 4EA is celebrating as it continues to grow its business with a milestone in wine exporting. The Hip Rosé still wine was selected in a blind tasting by the Norwegian state run wine and spirit monopoly business Vinmonopolet. It is the first English still rosé to be stocked in Norway.
Unlike the UK, Norway has tight controls over the sale and availabilty of alcohol, advertising and special offers are not permitted and you cannot buy wine in a supermarket. State run off licences aim to offer a selection of quality wine catering for all tastes. The stock they import is carefully selected. In Norway the sale of alcohol is part of the public health policy as they prioritise the promotion of responsible attitudes towards drinking.
A bumper 2020 vintage is bottled
Some great wines were produced from the 2020 vintage, and bottling at the winery took place in late March in order to get the wines ready for the May 2021 release. The warm weather at key times during the growing season of 2020 proved ideal for vine growing and produced a bumper crop.
Visits and tastings
