Hottest show for years may have seen record attendance

With temperatures well over 20 degrees on Saturday people came out in force to support the Heathfield Agricultural Show in possibly record numbers.

Despite heavy rainfall the day before, the ground was dry and there was very little mud. Visitors enjoyed everything from traditional fairground rides and fare to watching a wide variety of cattle and other livestock compete for different prizes.

The programme was packed with activities from falconry displays to horse and carriage displays and motorcycle acrobatics taking place in the different rings. Particularly popular were the horse and hounds who allowed the public into the ring to meet the dogs as the end of their demonstration.

By 11am all the main car parks were full and the overflow carpark had to be used. Ice cream vans did particularly well with reports that by lunchtime they had all sold out of lollies.
