As the World Cup takes the stage it’s important to remember the importance of grassroots football.
A new Saturday football team – the East Sussex Warriors has started up in Punnetts Town and is looking forward to becoming part of the local community.
Based at Punnetts Town Recreation Ground, the club will be playing in the Mid Sussex League and is made up of players from the local area who are keen to make a positive impact both on and off the pitch.
The team would love to see residents come along to support them at home games, and they are also inviting people to follow their Facebook and Instagram pages for club news, fixtures and results. The team have secured some sponsorship already, but any businesses looking for an opportunity should take a look.
Meet the team this Saturday 20 June at Punnetts Town Fete
Anyone interested in finding out more can meet the players and staff at the Summer Fête on 20 June, 2-7pm at Punnetts Town Village Hall, where the club will be helping out on the day.
Whether you’re a potential player, a football fan, or simply keen to support something new in the village, the club would be delighted to hear from you.
Hear from new signing, Tyler Barker his thoughts on joining:
“I’m excited to join the Warriors for the upcoming season. Once I had a conversation with Mark and a few of the lads, joining was an easy decision. The club has a great project in place, they want to play the game the right way and want the lads to enjoy our football. I’m excited to link up with many lads I’ve played with before, as well as some new faces I’m looking forward to meeting.
“I can’t wait for the season to get started and to help push the club on to win things in our first season.
“I’d also like to thank my previous club and teammates at Herstmonceux. Last season was a joy to be part of, and I wish you nothing but the best for the future.”
