Friends of Tinkers Hatch celebrate after successful fundraiser
25th January
Tinkers Hatch is a Residential Care home within Heathfield, it caters for adults over the age of 18 with Learning Difficulties. It is situated in New Pond Hill in Cross in Hand and has been in existence since 1984.
Friends of Tinkers Hatch started fundraising last year in 2022, they raised funds by holding various events within the local community.
The first project was to raise money for a sensory table for the Community Hub within the home. A sensory table is a fantastic resource and an asset for the home and the clients. It provides educational and life skills to the clients that use it. which helps to support them with coping day to day.
Succesful fundraiser in 2022
They reached their goal and were delighted to be able to purchase a sensory table at the end of 2022. The group was recently able to proudly gift it to the Clients in Tinkers Hatch. Friends of Tinkers Hatch representatives, Lizzie and Jen and were warmly welcomed at the presentation by Ellie, Activities Team Leader, from the home.
In 2023 the Friends will continue the fundraising support for the home, so look out for further information on social media, they can be followed on Facebook and Instagram.
Amy Hunt, Head of Care at Tinkers Hatch commented:
“The friends of Tinkers Hatch are a fund-raising committee set up by staff and families to help raise money toward making the lives of our clients with learning disabilities more enriched. Our first goal was to raise funds for a sensory table, a piece of equipment chosen by our wonderful clients.
“We have all worked very hard and enjoyed the fundraising projects, it has been a chance for staff, clients, family and friends and our local community to unite.
“We have been involved in an indoor jumble sale, Easter fete, summer fete, Christmas fair, and stalls at local events. We have been over the moon with the kindness and support from our local community.
It is due to all the commitment and hard work from our team that we have been able to unveil our brand-new sensory table for all to use and enjoy. “
