Dying Matters lunch at The Hall, Union Church, Heathfield
8th May
DYING MATTERS WEEK 6-12 MAY 2024 is a campaign from the charity Hospice UK
Honest, timely conversations about death and dying are essential to good end of life care. Yet all too often barriers, including lack of confidence, taboos around discussing death, and confusion about who should be having these conversations mean patients, carers and families may not understand what is happening, or get all the information and support they need. There are some wonderful local hospices close to Heathfield with St Wilfrid’s in Eastbourne, The Cottage Hospice in Five Ashes (Hospice in The Weald) and Hospice in the Weald Hospice at Pembury.
The language we use regarding death and how we talk to those who are grieving is so very important. We invite you to join us for lunch at our Dying Matters event next week.
Lucy Atabey from White Feather Funerals will be talking about the importance of the language we use when organizing funerals. Sue Jenkins a local bereavement counsellor will be discussing how to talk to people about their grief and the person they have lost. And throughout this event, there is an opportunity for remembrance -candle lighting and a listening ear from ex-NHS chaplain Rev Vicky in a quiet space.
Join us for an informal gathering and delicious free lunch.
