#shoplocal for Christmas gifts, it’s never been easier!
With a new lockdown just started and Christmas not far off, local traders are looking for ways to encourage people to #shoplocal and buy their Christmas presents from them, rather than larger online retailers.
With much of the High St closed and popular markets, like the one in Heathfield cancelled, traders and crafts people were desperately thinking of ways to showcase their gift ideas. We at www.theheathfieldnews.co.uk were planning on creating a Christmas Gift Guide to support businesses but then we discovered some great FREE guides being produced locally.
These gift guides are free to sign up to for businesses and a great resource for people to find out about all of the great craftspeople, food and wine producers and local retailers in the area. #shoplocal has never been easier.
Stonesthrow Christmas Gift Guide is an excellent Christmas Gift Guide, the brainchild of Emma and Jon from www.stonesthrow.work the Crowborough co-working space. The online guide has gifts split into categories like Boozy Gifts, Crafty, Tasty Treats and For the Kids, which makes it super easy for shoppers to search out original local gifts, or just do some festive shopping.
“Because of the type of business we are we get to speak to many local businesses both online and face to face. We knew of quite a few businesses, old and new, offering Christmas gifts. We wanted to make it as easy as possible for people to shop locally and support local businesses as well as pick up some amazing gifts. We asked businesses if they wanted to go on the guide and have been overwhelmed by the response. Within a week we have gone from 50 to over 100 businesses!!”
After a hard year for us all it’s been lovely to be sharing something with the local community that people are passionate about being involved in and excited to talk about and share. We really hope it helps people shop local and supports those local businesses producing some amazing products.” explained Emma,Co-founder, Stonesthrow
There are other resources also available for business and shoppers. The Think Heathfield! initiative has a handy online business guide with lots of local businesses listed and this isn’t just limited to Christmas. Listing is free for businesses. Shoppers can access via https://thinkheathfield.co.uk/
There is also a virtual Christmas Market on Facebook with daily posting of gift and festive ideas.
