Punnetts Town
Punnetts Town is a small village with some very brave and determined locals. At just 19 years of age Ben Johnson, a member of the Green Goddess fire crew and a soldier in the Princess of Wales’ Regiment, was awarded the Queen’s Commendation for Bravery after saving a man from a burning building. While he was posted in Birmingham, Ben was called to tackle a local blaze. When he and his friend Stuart Duff, who was also awarded a commendation, entered the building they were confronted by a knife-wielding drug addict who refused to leave. Together, the two men managed to disarm him and get him to safety.
Punnetts Town is also home to a Grade II listed smock mill. Blackdown Mill was first built in Biddenden, Kent, in 1805 but was then transported to its current home in 1859. It became quite rundown when it stopped being regularly used, but Archie Dalloway has spent the last 40 years meticulously restoring the historic mill after inheriting it from his grandfather. Despite various setbacks, including the mill being struck by lighting which set the repairs back by a few years, Archie’s determination never wavered. Although the mill is not currently open to the public, Archie has never refused anyone a look inside.
