Five star reviews for celebratory show

8th July

East Sussex Dance Studios wowed audiences on Saturday with ‘The Ruby Shoes’ their modernised version of ‘The Wizard of Oz’ at the 1,000-seater Assembly Hall Theatre, Tunbridge Wells, in two amazing shows.

The show celebrated five years under Principal Jenna Crescenzo but also celebrated 40 years since the original school opened, hence the Ruby Theme.

The show was led by the sensational Darcy Toyn as Dorothy (a true star in the making and destined to be a West End star) as she made her way through Munchkin land and finally to The Emerald City to make her way back to Kansas meeting lots of well-known characters along the way.

Olivia Russel who played the Scarecrow’s comic timing was second to none and Georgia Archer who played the Wicked Witch has the most incredible voice bringing the house down after her rendition of ‘The Red Shoe Blues’.

The whole cast from the tiniest performer age two to the oldest age 17 were incredible. They were well rehearsed and beaming from head to toe as they carried off this well-known show with many of the audience members asking if professionals had been brought in to help them.

The reviews have been 5* and Principal Jenna and their team of teachers could not be prouder.  Jenna said: “To watch the students’ progression since our last show has been simply incredible!”

Parent Sarah Jones said: “It was incredible. Thank you so much for making real dreams come true. What you all do for the children is amazing. I was quite emotional watching it last night and had a few goosebumps.”

Grandparent Chrissie Pickett said: “This was an epic evening! ESDS you deserve all the credit. Thank you for all your hard work and for giving my granddaughters a real passion and zest for life they would otherwise not have experienced. Well done to all the very talented young people and the incredible teachers! Looking forward to the next show already!”

Mum Tammy Williams echoed the other comments: “Wow! What an amazing show! Well done to all the hardworking teachers and extremely talented students. It was literally phenomenal!! I now have a very inspired three year old who wants to ‘be like one of the big girls one day’.”

East Sussex Dance Studios are opening their doors this week for FREE TRIALS to all students who wish to join them in September, a chance not to be missed.
