Celebrating 40 Years of Running Together
Heathfield Runners – Anniversary Charity Raffle for Macmillan Cancer Support & Cancer Research UK
This June, the Heathfield Runners celebrate 40 years – four decades of miles, friendship, memories and community spirit.
As they celebrate this incredible milestone at their 10k event on 15 June 2025, they are also taking the opportunity to support causes that have become deeply personal to them.
“In the past year, three of our runners have received a cancer diagnosis – a life changing moment that turned their world upside down. It has affected not only their ability to run, but every aspect of their daily lives. Throughout their journey, the running club has been a vital source of motivation, strength and support – showing how much more a club can be than just a place to run.
“Others in our club have had family members affected by cancer and these shared experiences have brought us even closer together,” explained club member Rachel Wilson.
Through these challenges, those members affected have experienced first-hand, the incredible work of MacMillan Cancer Support and Cancer Research UK. Their presence has been a lifeline – offering guidance, comfort and hope.
As a club, and especially through the voices of the runners who have experienced cancer personally, there was a strong desire to give something back.
