Herstmonceux Castle Estate awarded Quality Assured Visitor Attraction marque

Visit England has once again awarded their quality assurance marque to the Herstmonceux Castle Estate with an improved score that is nearly 10% higher compared to two years ago. The overall score increased from a 70% to 78% approval rating.

The Visitor Attraction Quality Assurance Scheme (VAQAS) is a recognised accreditation covering a broad range of attractions including museums, art galleries, safari parks, gardens, historic houses, theme parks.

The assessor praised new wayfinding signage and overall cleanliness as well as noting that, “Despite the inclement weather at the time of the visit, the grounds and gardens were clearly being very well maintained; a robot lawn mower was seen in action on one of the lush lawns!”

In recognition of this award, a spokesperson for Herstmonceux Castle Estate said that they will continue to review their visitor experience as part of the planning for their 2024 season.

During spring and summer, the Gardens and Grounds of Herstmonceux Castle are popular attraction for national and international tourists. Herstmonceux Castle operates as the UK campus of Queen’s University (Canada), hosting international students every year who come to England to study within this tranquil setting, learn more about our country and explore Europe.

Throughout the year Herstmonceux Castle hosts international students, tourists, conferences, events and weddings.
