Horam Community Steps Up Again: Phase 3 of the Recreation Ground Pathway
Horam residents are once again being asked to lend their support to the ongoing transformation of the village recreation ground. After the success of the upper field path completed in 2023 and the pump track that opened last month, attention now turns to Phase 3 — completing the 1km pathway with a new loop around the lower field.
The project, which has already brought new energy and accessibility to the site, aims to make the entire recreation ground easier to enjoy for walkers, wheelchair users, cyclists, and families alike. The next phase includes not only the lower field path but also resurfacing the access road to the Bowls, Football, and Tennis Pavilion.
To bring it to life, the Horam community needs to raise £130,000. The good news is that Wealden District Council’s new Community Led Infrastructure Fund (CLIF) may contribute £100,000 — if the remaining £30,000 can be raised locally.
A new Crowdfunder campaign has been launched to help bridge that gap. Organisers say the community’s backing last time made all the difference, and they’re hopeful residents, local groups, and businesses will once again rally behind the cause.
Those who wish to contribute can find the fundraising page through local social media, on the Horam Recreation Ground website, or directly at:

To celebrate and spread the word, an event will be held at Horam Recreation Ground on Friday 18 October. Everyone’s invited — a chance to see the progress so far, share ideas for what’s next, and enjoy a community gathering that captures the spirit driving this project forward.
As organisers put it, “Each step we take together helps keep Horam active, connected, and proud of the place we call home.”
