Kay & Pascoe LLP celebrate 10 years of family law in Heathfield
Kay & Pascoe LLP are celebrating 10 years in business in Heathfield this year. The office opened for business in September 2011. It was started by husband and wife team John and Sharon Kay who are partners in the business. Back in April 2013 they were joined by Lee Pascoe following a merger with Chappell Pascoe who are based in Crowborough. Since then, they have continued to expand with the appointment of Solicitor Tara Sanger in May 2013 and then Fiona Connah joined as their fourth partner in 2019, having worked with them since 2018. They are assisted by Sam Carter in Heathfield and Lucie Harrington in Crowborough. They are specialised in matrimonial and family law and offer a range of services in this area.
Long term connections to the area
Both Sharon and John live in Heathfield. John is an active member of the local Rotary Club since 2012, behind essential fundraising for good causes, he is also a member of the Heathfield Chamber of Commerce.
A successful family law practice
John and Sharon believe that their success is based on the fact that they treat each new client individually and discuss with them the various options of resolving their difficulties, without necessarily facing a long and contested court battle. They can offer Mediation and Collaborative Law as alternatives to going to court where appropriate. However, if the case merits it, they can also represent clients using the traditional court-based process. Kay & Pascoe try to resolve difficulties that arise on a family breakdown rather than add to them.
Sharon explained: “We take the time to talk through the options with clients and see whether Mediation or the Collaborative Law process can help them. If this is not possible then we will use our expertise in helping to resolve issues with or without the court process. We also work with a large number of local professional colleagues who assist our clients including Financial Advisors, Pensions Experts, Counsellors and Accountants”.
As a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic and since March 2020, clients have been offered the opportunity to have meetings by Zoom rather than the usual face to face meetings that they are used to. Whilst this is not ideal, if a family needs urgent assistance, then Kay & Pascoe are still able to help by providing family law services.
Life getting back to ‘normal’
Life at Kay & Pascoe is slowly returning to “normal” with colleagues taking it in turns to be in the office. Everyone has missed the personal interaction with their colleagues but they hope that it will be possible to be back to sharing the two offices as previously, in order that to provide the best possible service to their clients.
