Moonlight Walk returns to light up a summer night of remembrance in Support of Hospice in the Weald

Residents across Heathfield and the surrounding villages are being warmly invited to take part in a much-loved local tradition – the Moonlight Walk which returns on Saturday 27 June 2026.

Hosted at Sevenoaks Rugby Club from 6pm until midnight, this uplifting annual event brings together hundreds of people for an evening of walking, reflection and community spirit—all in support of Hospice in the Weald.

Participants can choose from four, eight or thirteen mile routes, all set against the stunning backdrop of Sevenoaks and the historic Knole Park. Whether you’re a seasoned walker or simply looking for a meaningful way to spend a summer evening, there is a distance to suit everyone.

The event begins with a lively group warm-up set to music, creating a celebratory atmosphere before walkers set off. Along the way, participants will share stories, memories and companionship, with many walking in honour of loved ones who have been cared for by the hospice.

For many the hospice holds a deeply personal memory

For many in Heathfield and the wider Wealden area, Hospice in the Weald holds a deeply personal significance. The charity provides compassionate, free care for people facing life-limiting illnesses, as well as vital support for their families. Events like the Moonlight Walk play a crucial role in ensuring these services can continue.

On return to the finish line, walkers will be greeted with a well-earned glass of fizz, while refreshments including food and hot drinks will be available to purchase—offering a chance to relax, reflect and celebrate the evening together.

The event is open to all ages and even welcomes well-behaved dogs, making it a perfect opportunity for families, friends and community groups to come together under the summer sky.
