PCSOs active in Heathfield after recent surge in anti- social behaviour
The new PCSOs who are now covering Heathfield have been announced. They are PCSO Dave Davies, PCSO Tom Lewis and PCSO Geraldine Hodgens. Wealden Police has confirmed that the trio has been out and about in the area along with other officers.
Heathfield has started to see an increase in crime with 28 incidents reported last month. Some of this has involved youth anti-social behaviour (ASB) and Wealden Police is currently looking into ways it can combat this. Currently crimes appear to be occuring over weekends, so officers have also been patrolling Heathfield on a Friday and Saturday evening in order to try and deter any issues.
Over the coming weeks leading up to Christmas, Wealden Police has ring fenced some resources for dedicated patrols to tackle ASB concerns.
“One of the ways we will be doing this is through additional Operation Blitz dates in addition to Friday and Saturday night from the Friday 21st December through to Sunday 5th January 1600 – 2200 (excluding BH),” said a Wealden Police spokesperson.
Operation Blitz provides designated additional patrols each Friday and Saturday nights, targeting areas of known ASB. Officers can be contacted between the hours of 1800 – 0000 using the following dedicated telephone number 07770 700642.
The mobile police station will be in Heathfield on the following dates:
Tues 17th Dec – Heathfield Market – Burwash Road – 0730 – 1200
Sat 21st Dec – Heathfield Farmers Market – Co-Op – 0900 – 1230
PCSO Hodgens will be at Heathfield Market tomorrow and Wealden Police is encouraging people to come and talk to them about any issues they may be experiencing.
