Plans for 370 houses on Hellingly farmland
One of the last green fields in Hellingly is set to disappear after outline planning permission was granted recently for 370 dwellings.
The huge development is proposed for farmland off New Road in Hellingly by Taylor Wimpey. According to a post on the Save Wealden From Over Development Facebook page an ’administration error’ meant that no residents of New Road received notification about this development proposal and meeting. The planning reference is WD/2019/2542/MAO.
Minutes of the Planning and Environment Committee of Hellingly Parish Council said councillor had “expressed great concerns with the drainage as the current system, does not support the existing dwellings and recommended to the Presentation Group to ensure Southern Water improve/upgrade the current system to support the additional 370 dwellings planned.”
The new dwellings will bring the total number of new houses in Hellingly to around 2,000.
