8th April

Sarah Tate Photography is launching the Fine Art Portrait Awards next week in an effort to raise vital funds for Demelza Hospice Care for Children.

As well as raising money for the charity, the initiative gives people the chance to have a beautiful photo taken by an award-winning photographer and the chance of their image winning a prize.

The awards open on 12th April 2021 and close on 7th June 2021.

Sarah is looking for children between four months and 11 years and anyone who is over 60 because she wants to celebrate parents and grandparents.

Fine art portraits are different from contemporary portrait sessions as Sarah creates a picture rather than taking a spontaneous photo. Subjects are styled, dressed and posed to set the scene.

Sarah explains: “We are still maintaining the subjects’ personalities, but they are captured in a different manner. Fine Art photography is not what my camera sees, but what we would like you to see, and is generally a piece of art to hang on the wall, rather than a series of shots for an album. We would love to see as many people as possible in our studio and help create a piece of ‘art’ just for them.”

For a donation of £15 each entrant receives a one hour portrait experience, entry into the Fine Art Portrait Awards, a private viewing in Sarah Tate’s media lounge and an eight inch mounted print of their entry.

Judging will take place on 29th June. The prizes include stacked acrylics, book tokens and a champagne afternoon tea at The Grand Eastbourne for the over 60s winner.
