At the last session of the Repair Café Heathfield and Horam on 12 November there was an interesting array of broken items, most of which the team managed to fix.

Among them was a Steepletone record player for a local resident who loves collecting 78s vinyl records. She confessed that she now owns well over a thousand of them. So she went home very happy with her fully functioning record player saying: “Thank you very much – now I can play my 1600 vinyl.”

Another resident brought a broken sewing machine and was over the moon to have this mended: “I’m absolutely thrilled to get this fixed. It means that not only can I do more sewing, but it is quite a connection to my grandmother who died a very long time ago. Thank you so much.”

And another satisfied customer praised the team’s “great service to the community. A lot of effort was put into trying and repairing the CD player and the china bowl is now in one piece to enjoy.”

Cornelie Usborne of The Repair Café said: “We love all your comments, and we love seeing people arriving anxiously clutching their broken shears or computer and then leaving us happy with them working again. Each time we have saved a bit of money and helped save the planet just a tiny bit, too!”

The LAST SESSION BEFORE CHRISTMAS is on 10 DECEMBER: 9.30 to 12 NOON at HORAM VILLAGE HALL.
