Hospice in the Weald Firewalk 2026 East Sussex residents and businesses invited to step up for local hospice care
East Sussex residents and businesses who are looking for a bold new challenge in 2026 are being invited to do something extraordinary — walk barefoot across hot embers — all in support of a much-loved local charity.
Hospice in the Weald, which provides vital end-of-life and family support services across Kent and East Sussex, is hosting its first Firewalk Challenge on Saturday 14 March 2026 at The Camden Arms in Pembury. The event is being delivered by professional instructors from UK Firewalk, ensuring participants are fully trained and supported before stepping onto the embers.
The charity is encouraging people from Heathfield and across Wealden, Eastbourne, Hailsham and surrounding East Sussex villages to take part — whether as individuals, community groups, sports clubs or workplace teams.
A powerful challenge for a powerful cause
The Firewalk is much more than an adrenaline-fuelled experience. By taking part, walkers will help Hospice in the Weald continue its essential work supporting adults and children with life-limiting illness, as well as their families, both at home and in the hospice.
Many people in Heathfield and the surrounding Weald of East Sussex rely on the hospice’s services each year, making local fundraising events especially important.
Hospice in the Weald also has a charity shop in Heathfield, where donations and purchases help fund care for patients living locally. By joining the Firewalk, residents can support the same charity they see and support in their own high street.
What to expect on the night
The Firewalk takes place from 6pm on Saturday 14 March and begins with a motivational and safety briefing from a qualified UK Firewalk instructor. Participants will be taught the techniques needed to walk confidently across the glowing embers before stepping out onto the fire path.
No previous experience is required — just a willingness to step outside your comfort zone and do something unforgettable.
Whether you’re from Heathfield, Horam, Mayfield, Crowborough or anywhere across East Sussex, the Firewalk offers a unique way to challenge yourself while helping others.
Get involved
Participants can sign up as individuals or form teams with friends, colleagues or clubs, making it a great team-building experience for East Sussex businesses and community groups.
