The Middle House – your dream weekend away
The Middle House Mayfield is a hidden gem within a town of hidden gems and eating and immersing yourself in this Grade I listed building is sure to make your day.
With the ingredients used sourced locally, not only will you be supporting a local business but local farmers.
All the meals are cooked from scratch and when we visited we could smell the beautiful cheesiness of their famous dauphinois potatoes.
The food includes most of what you would expect from an everyday pub menu, but with some more interesting additions like nachos with homemade tortilla chips. You can count on every dish delivering that good, full, hearty feeling.
With all the exposed black beams and contrasting white walls showing off the spectacular architecture, you feel transported back in time.
But this beautiful place has so much more to offer than food, as there are beautiful rooms above the restaurant. Each one contains a four-poster bed – we wouldn’t expect anything else – and a fully tilled bathroom.
The rooms are grand and just like the restaurant, transported us back in time. There are exposed beams and stunning views, whether on to the East Sussex countryside or the side overlooking the beautiful village streets of Mayfield.
The Middle House would be the perfect spot for a weekend away or to eat yourself silly and enjoy all the local delicacies.
The prices for double occupancy are:
Twin bedded room £105
Standard four poster room £105
Superior four poster room £115
Deluxe four poster room £130
Not only is The Middle House a restaurant with rooms, they also run a deli across the street offering an amazing range of cheeses, ready meals, jams and preserves and even granola made by the chefs from The Middle House. You really can’t ask for more.
The shop has a rustic and vintage feel. The staff are warm and welcoming and you can’t fail to be tempted by the tempting food displayed just behind the glass.
So in case you have doubts about how much we loved the place, we love it, the architecture, the food and the phenomenal views – The Middle House has everything.
