Heathfield based business launches vegan food truck – Plant Power Grub

22nd July

Mobile food trucks have become increasingly popular since the pandemic. These agile trailers can serve in the open air and pop up in spots where there may not be an established restaurant or pub. Seeing an opportunity and fancying a change of focus Ginette Shepard, singer, alternative health therapist and ex-hairdresser, set up Plant Power Grub. As a vegan and a lover of food, Ginette is able to enjoy two of her passions whilst cooking up meat free options like her legendary Beyond Meat* Burgers and her Thai Curry – all served up from her vegan food truck.

“People who don’t know me might say I’m having a mid life crisis, going into a new business that no one has done before.  Anyone who knows me will know that is exactly the sort of thing I would do.  I have always had an enquiring mind to the unusual and unexplored, so starting a purely vegan mobile catering business, to some people, may seem a crazy thing to do. To me it makes perfect sense, ” explained Ginette, Founder of Plant Power Grub

Ginette is fairly new to the area and has especially enjoyed meeting lots of like minded people while serving them at her pitch in Horam on a Thursday evening. She told us that some of her customers have been converted to the meat- free burgers from meat versions and, having tried the Big Stack Burger ourselves, we can vouch for the robust, super satisfying, tastiness of her food. She hopes to continuously evolve the menu on offer and will introduce new dishes in time.

The majority of the food is homemade by Ginette such as the Thai Curry, naan bread and olive & herb bread, falafels, BBQ Jack Burger,  Hoisin Jack Burger, slaw, salads and sauces.  Using organic locally sourced ingredients where possible. She uses bio degradable packaging and some of her own garden produce and herbs.

New to the menu is the Vegan Soft Serve Ice cream, which is proving to be a real winner and a great treat for so many this summer. It is 100% Vegan, GMO and gluten free. There is something for everyone. Give it a try and if you aren’t already you will be converted!

“We serve something for everyone, vegans and non vegans will love it,” commented Ginette, Founder Plant Power Grub
