Heathfield Bonfire Night – Saturday 11 October

Heathfield’s streets will glow once again as the Heathfield & District Bonfire Society leads its famous torchlit procession through town on Saturday 11 October. Dressed in their green, white and black Smugglers jumpers and colourful Day of the Dead costumes, they’ll be joined by over 25 visiting societies for a spectacular night of fire, drums and fireworks.

The event marks the 1605 Gunpowder Plot, honours those lost in conflicts, and remembers the Heathfield Martyrs. Roads including High Street, Station Road and Sheepsetting Lane will be closed from 6:30 pm to 10 pm for safety.

The Procession starts at 7.15 and the fireworks commence at 9pm. Get there early to enjoy refreshments from local eateries and pop up bars.

Wristbands are required for entry to the firesite and fireworks. Buy in advance for £4 (under-5s free) from the Mermaid Lounge, Poppyseed Bakery, Farrago, Heathfield & Waldron Parish Council, or outside Trading 4 U (9 am–1 pm). Any remaining wristbands will be £5 at the Martyrs Bar from 5:30 pm.

Enjoy drinks from Harvey’s, Bignose Beardy, and The Gun Taproom at the firesite. Funds raised support Chestnut Tree House children’s hospice and local causes.
