Learn ornamental plasterwork techniques from JW Zielinski – restorer who worked on the tower bay ceiling at Herstmonceux Castle

Step into an intensive, hands-on masterclass in traditional ornamental plastering led by award-winning craftsman John William Zielinski. Drawing on techniques he used while restoring the tower bay ceiling at Herstmonceux Castle, this rare South of England course offers focused training normally only found in professional workshops or heritage sites.

In one immersive day, you will learn bench running fundamentals, build your own running horse from scratch, work with fine casting plaster, and gain the foundations of ornamental plasterwork. Through demonstrations, guided practice, and expert feedback, you’ll develop practical skills and confidence you can apply at home, on site, or in future advanced training.

Designed for beginners, working plasterers, and heritage professionals alike, the course delivers authentic craft experience in a historic setting. By the end, you’ll be able to recreate traditional profiles, sections, and cornices independently.

Places are limited to ensure personal instruction—offering a rare opportunity to learn heritage craftsmanship in its true form.

Friday, 20th March from 9am to 4:30pm
