Be part of something special – volunteer at the Heathfield Agricultural Show

Each year, the ever-popular Heathfield Agricultural Show transforms rural Sussex into a vibrant celebration of countryside life — bringing together all things rural – livestock competitions, displays, equestrian competitions, local produce, arts, food and drink, vintage tractors and so much more for families and friends to enjoy.

Behind every captivating moment lies a team of dedicated volunteers whose time and passion make the event possible. Now, you have the chance to be part of that team — and make a genuine difference in the life of your community.

Why Your Help Matters

The Heathfield Show is run on a tight budget which is used to fund the show and develop it going forward, the few paid staff are supported by a band of passionate volunteers. From setting up and stewarding on the day to welcoming visitors and helping keep everything safe and enjoyable, the entire event depends on volunteers. Without this generous support, the Show simply couldn’t happen.

In recent years, more than £30,000 has been donated to local groups and organisations who volunteer their time and expertise to the event. That means that by giving a shift — typically 3–4 hours — you’re also helping secure vital funds for local causes, from youth clubs to sports teams and charities right here in East Sussex.

More Than Just Helping Out — It’s a Rewarding Experience

Volunteering at the Heathfield Show – Saturday 23 May 2026, is about more than just giving up a few hours. It’s an opportunity to:

  • Connect with your community – Meet people of all ages and backgrounds who care about rural life, local causes, and community spirit.
  • Enjoy the Show your way – After your volunteer shift, you’re free to take in the rest of the event, soaking up the displays, entertainment, and atmosphere
  • Gain new skills and experiences – Whether you’re directing visitors, assisting with logistics, or supporting behind the scenes, volunteering builds confidence and a sense of contribution that’s hard to match.
  • Support causes that matter – Your efforts can directly help your own charity or community groups who receive donations that support their good work throughout the year.

It’s Easy to Get Involved

Whether you’re a group of volunteers or an individual, the Heathfield Show team warmly welcomes all contributions — big and small. You decide how you’d like to help and when: standing roles, sitting roles, walking roles, morning or afternoon shifts — whatever suits you.

And the best part? It’s fun, fulfilling, and a great way to give back to a community event that celebrates everything special about rural life in Sussex.
