26th November

Wild Horse Indie band from Burwash, East Sussex

Wild Horse, a Burwash based Indie band have been getting creative during lockdown. Unable to perform at live gigs, the boys have been going online to bring their music to their fans. In October they played on a Coastal Currents dedicated music showcase; performing their latest album live to an audience of over 10 thousand people from around the world. More recently they were guest on KB Radio, Canada for a virtual gig reaching a wider audience in the USA and Canada.

The band is made up of two brothers Jack (18) & Henry Baldwin (21) and their friend Ed Barnes (19). They are all ex students from Heathfield Community College, and all of them are currently at universities in Brighton and East Sussex. They have been together for 6 years, and despite their youth they have played at most the major Indie venues in London & the South East. Wild Horse have recorded 4 albums and 3 EPs, and their latest, a double single will be released on December 17th. They rehearse at a home studio in Burwash, but will be back in the recording studio to record the next album shortly. All their tracks are originals, Jack and Henry are the main songwriters with Jack currently having a very green patch as he has written most of the last and next albums.

Wild Horse have been praised by many in the music business, and have drawn favourable comparisons with some of the UK’s very best exports from critics both sides of the pond, and are fast establishing Wild Horse as its own brand of Indie. At the end of 2019 their tracks were repeatedly played on BBC Introducing and in February 2020 they were invited to perform a live set, they have been a regular feature ever since.

“They have won many awards from radio stations worldwide, from best track, best album, best band, and this is down to hard work & perseverance. Now regulars on the BBC Introducing network, mainly BBC Sussex & Surrey, they are hoping that a move to the next level is within reach.” commented their Manager, Stephen Baldwin.

“I played a song called “Can’t” by Wild Horse out of England! These young guys kick so much ass!! OMG! You have to hear this!! I bet you start singing along to it upon hearing it for the first time. “Can’t” really set the mood of today’s show.”

Wild Horse on stage pre pandemic

The East Sussex boys are renowned for an exciting, powerful stage show, having honed their craft from an early age at all the iconic venues in London & the South East as well as several festivals, often playing the same stages as many of their heroes once did. They long for a time when they can start to perform live again.

The band also wanted to acknowledge some of the help they have had along the way:

“We are so grateful to everyone who has supported us especially Film Student, Keiran Groves who has shot great videos for us and DJ Peter Anthony who has given us lots of air time on Radio Caroline.”

Look out for their new single ‘Can’t stop meeting on the dance floor’ which will be released on 17th December 2020.
