Financial drop-in success

Cranwell Wealth Solutions is a Partner Practice of St. James’s Place Wealth Management, specialising in advising both individuals and businesses on their financial affairs. Now in its 6th year of business and based locally in Uckfield, the founder and Director Stephen Palmer reflects on a venture that he is extremely proud of – local financial drop in surgeries. Stephen and his trusted team of advisors run these successful events, set up especially for people living locally in Uckfield, Heathfield and the surrounding villages.

Stephen initially came up with the idea of drop in financial surgeries when he first started the business. He already had ambitions to establish a high street location for Cranwell Wealth Solutions, to create an informal and welcoming atmosphere for his clients to literally drop in on the team, but the business wasn’t large enough to support a high street location. So instead, Stephen quite literally took his business to local bowls clubs across Sussex and community hot spots in the form of financial drop in surgeries.

The idea was simple… New and existing clients can drop in on Stephen and his team, put a face to a name, quiz them as much as they like; in an informal environment where no question is ever too big or two small. The team has run these financial drop in surgeries in many locations, but have recently settled on the Uckfield Civic Centre as their venue of choice.

Here’s what Stephen had to say: “The drop in surgeries are such an important part to my business. I’ve built my practice locally in Sussex for some years now and I’ve been lucky enough to really get to know so many of the residents here on a personal level. The surgeries are a perfect way for me to give back to the local community. Many people have a burning financial question that has been on their mind for some time, they don’t wish to rely on online research and at times, just need things clarifying to them.

“The success of the drop in surgeries has been to leave the ball entirely in the clients’ court, these informal surgeries break down barriers of clients having to make an appointment. Instead they come to us knowing they can ask any financial or wealth management question they like and we will do our upmost to advise them. Then the decision is entirely theirs as to whether they ever engage in our services again. No personal details are taken, unless the client asks us to and no one ever receives annoying follow up calls or emails. The benefit is two fold, myself and my team get to know our local community on a far deeper level and meanwhile we know we’re offering a helpful service to the local community who have been instrumental in shaping and growing my practice.”
