Heathfield Community College brings carnival to the Heffle Fair

24th April

It was perfect weather  last weekend when Heathfield Community College Carnival Club proudly represented the College at the Heffle Cuckoo Fair parade on Saturday 21st April.

The fair continues traditions begun in the 14th century starting with a procession from outside Heathfield Community College.

The parade was led by musicians and included local school children, Morris dancers, bicycles bedecked with flowers and vintage vehicles. Dame Heffle opened the fair and released the cuckoos!  After which, Heathfield Community College Carnival Club students shared their carnival makes with the crowds.

“It was a joy to support this local event which raises money for the Demelza charity. With the large numbers in our Carnival Club, it felt like an actual carnival! It was the best weather in years so It was great to see everyone out enjoying the event, ” said Maya Warren, Year 12.

The Carnival Club’s next event will be at Brighton Festival Children’s Parade on Saturday 5th May.
