Increase in top grades for A Level students at Heathfield Community College
18th August
This week has been a time of highs and lows for all of those across the country who were eagerly awaiting their A Level results. But it was great to see that students at Heathfield Community College have improved further on last year’s high, achieving and high attaining outcomes at A level, embedding a consistent trend of improvement at the College.
Amid concerns nationally around the outcomes of the more rigorous A level examinations, Heathfield Community College students secured excellent results, particularly those achieving the higher grades. 55% of students reached the gold standard of A* – B grades, 29% achieved the top grades of A*-A, 9% at A*, up again on previous years. In almost all academic A level subjects, the pass rate was 100%.
For the individual students and staff these results reflect exceptional progress across the College and are the outcome of significant individual hard work and determination. They open the doors to the aspirational and competitive courses and future pathways that students have been aiming for.
Headteacher, Caroline Barlow, observed: “These are a great set of results. We are delighted for our Sixth Form students and the staff, whose hard work and determination has produced the outstanding outcomes they deserve. A-levels are tough qualifications and I am immensely proud of how well our students have achieved at this level. Caroline Barlow wished all the students well for the future adding:
“We are proud of all of students at the College. We challenge them to meet our highest expectations and our Sixth Form have worked hard all year to do exactly that. I am hugely thankful to students, staff and to families for the determined, collaborative partnership that has enabled our students to be the best they can be. They are great role models for younger Heathfield students and will be a significant asset to the University, Apprenticeship and employment places they are now excitedly taking up.”
