Local home improvement company weathers the Coronavirus storm

21st June

County – The Home Improvers is one of the many local companies that had to react quickly to the situation it faced after the lockdown in March.

Company Chairman Mike Evans explains: “It has been a crazy few months for everyone. In our 38-plus years in business we haven’t experienced anything quite like this before, but we were never going to just sit back and let the situation hinder what we do or affect our customers.”

Some businesses who were in difficulty prior to lockdown have sadly closed. Others are finding things difficult and will find it hard to restart. But County is an asset-backed business which is privately owned and well managed, so it was in a great position to pick up and go again. The company decided to use lockdown as an opportunity for innovation and growth, rather than viewing it as a problem.

Within a matter of days of lockdown being enforced, County launched a virtual appointment system so that customers could plan their improvements from home. This video-based facility helped the company fill its order books in readiness for the return to installing.

Installations have recommenced in the past couple of weeks for the customers who have patiently waited for the completion of projects that were started prior to lockdown. New installations have also got underway recently which are all being finalised in accordance with the new safety measures laid out by the government.

County’s three showrooms in Heathfield, Tunbridge Wells and Haywards Heath are open again after being refurbished and every precaution has been taken to make them the safest of environments for visiting customers.

As a FENSA-accredited installer, County supplies rock-solid guarantees with every product sold (10 years of cover for most items, and 20 years of cover for some others), and offers the local touch that so many other national companies often lack.

County – The Home Improvers is independently owned and has carefully selected a number of leading manufacturers to work with. These include the Conservatory Outlet, Timber Windows, Evolution and Bygone Windows along with several other UK manufacturers giving access to all the leading window, door and conservatory products.

“No other home improvement company knows the Kent and Sussex areas quite like we do, and we are right on the doorstep for when people need us. We feel like we’re an even better and stronger company during this challenging time and can promise that the we will still be servicing customers, new and old, long after this is over,” Mike added.
