Call for nominations for community awards supported by Rowland Gorringe

22nd June

The Heathfield News has got together with local estate agent Rowland Gorringe to launch a quest to find local people or businesses who have gone ‘above and beyond’ to help the community.

Even before the pandemic we reported on selfless acts of kindness, undertaken to benefit the community by individuals and groups. We interviewed Terry, who used his skills and free time to remove graffiti which blighted the town of Heathfield. There was Diane Brenham who runs the Unity Community Association and community projects for the Leeves Way, Leeves Close, Newnham Way and Waldron Thorns community; and groups like Brighter Heathfield, Street Pastors and Heathfield and District Volunteer Centre to name a few.

When the pandemic hit, the community responded by leaping into action doing everything from free delivery services for the vulnerable, making kit bags and masks to energetic fundraising to support the NHS.
