James from Melina Joy Opticians takes on the London Marathon

Melina Joy optometrist, James Miller, is taking on the challenge of running the London marathon on Sunday 27th April to raise funds for a local charity called Wealden Talking Newspapers, who are based just
down the High Street from the practice in Heathfield. It is a fantastic service that provides vital audio
news and information for visually impaired people in East Sussex.

Raising funds for Wealden Talking News who help people with sight loss to stay connected to their communities

“As an optician, I see first-hand how vision loss impacts daily life. It is important for people with
sight loss to stay connected to their communities. The Wealden Talking News service ensures
everybody has access to local news, stories, and updates that many of us take for granted”.
WTN is a registered charity that produces weekly memory sticks of news and features taken from the local papers together with a monthly magazine service, free of charge for the visually impaired. It is
run by a brilliant group of volunteers and they have been recognised for their efforts with The Queen’s Award for Voluntary Service, presented in 2022, ” explained James.
