Special dementia meetings launched in Heathfield

13th October

A dementia charity has launched a weekly event in Heathfield to help people with the condition and their families.

Know Dementia has opened one of its popular and much-needed Memory Moments Cafés in the town.

The aim of the Memory Moments Café is to bring people with a diagnosis and their carers/family members together with others in the same situation to support each other while enjoying a piece of cake with a hot drink and having some fun together.

Entertainers are often invited along to the sessions. Music and rhythm are particularly good for engaging all the senses and evoking strong memories. There are also other popular activities that take place, such as, quizzes, crafts, animal visits and table-top games, to name a few.

The sessions are supporting local people in the Heathfield area through the Golden Ticket program which has been introduced through GP surgeries and is supported by the NHS Clinical Commissioning Group for High Weald Lewes and Havens.
