Cross-in-Hand development planning application rejected

9th January

Location of proposed Snatchells Farm development of 24 residential homes

Cross-in-Hand development rejected

We featured the proposed plans for this way back in 2021 when Heathfield resident Rory Graham, stage name – Rag ‘n’ Bone Man, appealed for support to oppose this development which was going to have a big impact on his home. The earlier proposal of 34 houses has now been revised down to 24 and a reformed proposal was reviewed today 9 January 2025 before the Wealden Planning Committee South.

There was considerable concern expressed by Councillors in part the small number of houses planned was not considered worth the considerable impact on the environment and community and concerns were made over a range of impacts including: over issues with run off water and the need to install new signalisation on the road into Heathfield and the congestion anticipated, the field was highlighted as of significance to AONB and Cllr Mike Gadd made an impassioned plea for a refusal for the renewed plans.

In the vote at the end of the discussion the proposal was refused.
