New kiosk gets go ahead for construction on the old Horam station platform

Today, 9 January 2025, at the Wealden Planning Committee South Meeting there was widespread support for the construction of this amenity. The application was made by Wealden for the construction of a new kiosk and conveniences to be made on the disused platform at Horam station on the Cuckoo Trail. Walkers and cyclists will now be able to stop off for a comfort break and buy light refreshments while making use of the trail. Completion date is to be confirmed.

Councillors were concerned about security and the risk of vandalisation, especially given the example of the damage done when bike repair facility was set up and decimated by vandals. The installation of a security shutter was stipulated and the opening hours were confirmed as being seasonal and planning permission was granted today.
